Ten of our members attended the District Meeting of the Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa.  Clubs from districts IV, V, VII met new friends and caught up with old friends over coffee and lunch.

Our speaker for the meeting was writer Shelene Codner, who serves as the Iowa Waste Exchange Area Resource Specialist for the Department of Natural Resources.  Her job?  Keeping things OUT of the landfill!  She entertained us with anecdotes and stories about how she goes about recycling numerous items so they continue to be used instead of discarded.

A silent auction and a plant sale were part of the day and most of us went home with something new to put into our garden.
